Are the sunscreens in the NIA 24™ products PABA-free? Yes. PABA is known to be very irritating to certain skin types, thus, the NIA 24™ products do not contain PABA.
Are physical sunscreens better than chemical sunscreens? Yes. Natural (physical) sunscreens, like the NIA 24™ 100% Mineral Sunscreen, have a more stable shelf life, better long-term UVA protection and are less-irritating. There have been many recent studies on chemical sunscreens that show potential for irritation when applied to certain skin types. The chemicals (Parasol, Oxycrylene, OxyBenzone, etc.) also have shown to break down into other potentially harmful compounds and free radicals after application. Chemical sunscreens also don’t have the same long-term ability to protect against harmful UV rays.
